Stephen A. Seamands
Dr. Stephen Seamands is professor of Christian Doctrine. He has served as a professor at Asbury Theological Seminary since 1983. Before coming to Asbury Seminary, Dr. Seamands pastored United Methodist churches in New Jersey for 11 years. He also pastored Hebron United Methodist Church in Kentucky from 1984 to 1986. He is an ordained elder in the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to teaching and working with seminary students, Dr. Seamands is actively engaged in leading seminars and retreats and conducting spiritual renewal events in local churches across the United States. He has a particular interest in theological and spiritual renewal within the United Methodist church, as well as the larger body of Christ. He also has a deep concern for the spiritual needs of pastors and Christian leaders.

A foundational course at Asbury Theological Seminary, this introductory course bases the theological formation of students upon biblical data as well as upon the classical Christian tradition, contemporary theology, and Wesleyan theological distinctives with a view to helping students grasp the importance of theology for the practice of ministry. Taught by one of Asbury’s distinguished theological professors, Dr. Stephen A. Seamands, by enrolling in this course you will have access to lecture video and syllabus material used for masters level classes at Asbury.
