Do you have trouble understanding the Old Testament and how it applies to your life? Do you tend to read the New Testament far more than the Old? Respected scholars will make the Old Testament come alive for you! Our courses will show you the over-arching themes, the culture and key concepts of the Old Testament. Its message will be much clearer and your understanding of Jesus and the New Testament will also deepen!
Explore the New Testament with expert scholars and gifted preachers. Learn how to interpret one of Paul’s letters to better grasp God’s message through Paul to the churches of his day. Then you can more responsibly understand and apply his word to your life today. Upcoming courses will make Jesus’ parables more vivid and understandable; you can accompany Jesus through his life and his ministry; learn what was on Paul’s and John’s hearts in the letters to their churches and, ultimately, what is on God’s heart for us today.
Our Current Issues courses tackle tough questions that Christians face today, such as women in leadership, homosexuality, the environment, and immigration reform. Explore controversial issues with nationally-known Christian leaders from a thoughtful and thoroughly-Biblical perspective. You will learn how to think and act more lovingly and responsibly in these challenging areas. You can better reflect Jesus’ love for the world.
Theology, the study of God, is for everyone, not just academics and scholars! Theology is “faith seeking understanding.” Studying theology enables you to discern whether a teaching is authentically Biblical or heretical. Theology arose because the church needed to respond to dangerous, false teaching. Theology will give you a solid framework for understanding the great truths of the whole of Scripture.
Doing Christian ministry is a life-long learning process. John Wimber, the founder of the Vineyard movement, called this “doing the stuff” of the Kingdom of God. John Wesley, a great evangelist and man of faith, strove to understand the balance of faith and works – that “faith acting in love” involves the process of God’s grace working in our lives. Our Practical Studies courses will help you put ministry into action while accessing God’s grace and power. Learn how to effectively preach, to invite the Holy Spirit and his healing power, to strengthen marriages and families, and to plant new churches. Gain confidence in walking out the ministry God has for you!

As a student on KDS you will be asked to participate in a forum discussion facilitated by the VLI team. For more information about the Asbury/VLI partnership, or to learn more about the cohort log onto the Asbury Cluster Website. May the Lord bless you as you seek to know Him more through this series.
